How-to Posts

Like this one! How-to posts are basically lists. Lists are great for readers because they can be skimmed and they (usually) get right to the point. How-Tos typically work best when you have a solution to a problem, when you’re explaining a project, or when you have steps to take for an end result.

Interviews

Again, interviews are great for your readers. They are informative, but anecdotal. The important thing is to interview someone
  1. who is Related to the industry/topic of your blog
  2. who is Someone who has a fascinating story or expert advice to share.
And don’t interview yourself. That’s just weird.

Follow Up Posts

Did you write a How-To or an Interview? Maybe you reported on an interesting piece of news? Follow up on that information and find out what resulted! You can even do a sequel piece depending on the topic. Revisit some of your more popular posts and

Ask Your Readers

What’s better: create a bunch of blog posts that no one cares about OR ask your readers what they want to read from you? If you’re really strapped for ideas, ask your readership to give you topics. Work smarter, not harder.

Review Something

Do you have a product you love that you think the world would love too? Share it! Did you have an experience that was absolutely horrific? Share it (but don’t be rude). Reviews are simply opinion pieces. Review movies, books, music, websites, whatever your heart desires.

Tackle a Controversial Topic

This could be tricky, but controversy gets people talking. If you represent a brand or own your own business, you may want to steer clear of certain topics, but more often than not, just creating discussion will whip your readers into a frenzy. The most important thing is to have as much accurate information as possible and to present all sides of a given argument.
